“Wat Thong Samrit” wins the 14th Department of Physical Education Football Championship.


Wat Thong Samrit School showed off their form, shattering the experts’ pens by narrowly defeating the defending champion, Assumption Thonburi School, in an exciting match, 2-1, winning the championship for the first time, while Pakorn Suttiprapa, the team’s star striker, won the award for best player of the tournament in the 2024 school sports football competition, under 14 years old, Category A, at Supachalasai Stadium on 24 September 2024.

The 2024 Inter-School Football Tournament for Under 14s, Category A, organized by the Department of Physical Education, Ministry of Tourism and Sports, in collaboration with Corno and Nash Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Siam Sport Syndicate Public Company Limited, and main sponsors of the event, iMane, Coca-Cola, and Milo.

The event was honored by Dr. Niwat Limsuknirun, Director-General of the Department of Physical Education, Mr. Suthan Wichairat, Director of the Personnel Development Institute of the Department of Physical Education and Sports, Dr. Patpong Phongsakul,
Director of the Sports Office, Ms. Nutcharee Lao Laem, Senior Manager of Special Activities and Sports, Thai Namthip Corporation Co., Ltd., and Mr. Wasin Kraichan, representative from Imane Thailand Co., Ltd.

As for the match schedule for Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Supachalasai Stadium, the National Stadium, we have arrived at the final round and the 3rd place match, which has attracted a lot of attention from football fans and parents, including watching the live broadcast via Siam Sport’s online channels.

The first match was a battle for 3rd place between Suankularb Wittayalai School and Phitchanabhandit School. The game started in the first half with Suankularb Wittayalai School scoring an early lead of 1-0 in the 9th minute from a shot by Surachai Sema. Then in the 35th minute, Suankularb Wittayalai School scored another goal to make it 2-0 from Surachai Sema. At the end of the first half, Suankularb Wittayalai School led Phitchanabhandit 2-0.

Coming back to fight in the second half, both teams too
k turns attacking, but it was Suankularb Wittayalai who scored the first goal to lead 3-0 in the 47th minute from a quick counterattack. Surachai Sema dribbled the ball into the penalty area before passing it to Wangmon Namrat who ran in and tapped it in. In the remaining time, neither side was able to score any more goals. When the match ended, Suankularb Wittayalai defeated Phichitbandit with a score of 3-0, successfully taking home third place.

While the highlight of the final round was the duel between Assumption Thonburi School, the defending champion of the tournament, and Wat Thong Samrit School. The game started with only 51 seconds to go. Wat Thong Samrit quickly took the lead 1-0 from an open shot by Dulyawat Kawin. Then in the 9th minute, Wat Thong Samrit extended the lead to 2-0 from a shot by Patiphan Leephan. In the 28th minute, Assumption Thonburi came to tie the score at 1-2 from a shot by Siriwat Wa-iad before the end of the first half with this score.

In the second half, the defending cham
pion, Assumption Thonburi, was the one who mostly attacked, but they were unable to penetrate Wat Thong Samrit’s defense. After 90 minutes, Wat Thong Samrit narrowly defeated Assumption Thonburi 2-1, winning the championship for the first time.

For the conclusion of the competition for the academic year 2024, it consists of

the winning team: Wat Thong Samrit School (20,000 baht prize money and Milo products

) Second place team: Assumption Thonburi School (10,000 baht prize money and Milo products)

Third place team: Suankularb Wittayalai School (5,000 baht prize money and Milo products)

Fourth place team: Pichyabandit School (Milo products)

Best player of the competition: Pakorn Suthiprapha, Wat Thong Samrit School (5,000 baht prize money and Milo products)

Fair Play Team: Pichyabandit School (5,000 baht prize money and Milo products)
