Undiksha hosts national conference on university library cooperation

Ganesha University of Education (Undiksha) in Singaraja, Buleleng district, Bali, hosted the National Conference of Library Cooperation Forum of State Universities (FKP2TN) on September 28 and 29, 2022.

“This forum was also filled with a national working meeting and national seminar,” Undiksha Vice Rector I, Dr. Gede Rasben Dantes, said here on Thursday.

The forum, themed “management innovation and strategy of university libraries in building collaboration in providing e-resources,” discussed the work program for library development and the selection of library management, he informed.

Three speakers made presentations at the national seminar, he added.

According to the vice rector, the FKP2TN forum can play a strategic role in the further development of libraries. He then expressed the hope that it would strengthen library management in each state university.

“I see that libraries in universities are very vital as we can provide knowledge, science, and skills to the academic community. We hope that the library of each university will become an icon and the facilities will improve,” he said.

According to Dantes, a library is no longer just a place for storing books, but has transformed and now has increasingly complex functions, such as a place to discuss and access digital resources, such as journals and e-books.

To maximize library services, there needs to be collaboration between higher education institutions and other related parties, he added. Therefore, he said he is looking forward to the FKP2TN forum forming a consortium.

Chairperson of the forum committee, Dr. Made Hery Wihardika Griadhi, said that the forum’s implementation has also received support from the private sector engaged in printing and e-resources.

Through the forum, collaboration is expected to be established on improving library services and enriching e-resources, he added.
