Tourist police arrest illegal Vietnamese guide, witness to 6 deaths case


Tourist police track down and arrest illegal Vietnamese guide, witness to massacre of 6 people in luxury hotel in central Bangkok, after observing his behavior for more than 1 month.

Tourist police arrested Mr. Phan Ngoc Vu, 35, an illegal Vietnamese tour guide, while he was acting as a tour guide for Vietnamese tourists traveling in Thailand. He was arrested at a hotel in Soi Rang Nam, Ratchathewi District, Bangkok. This operation followed on July 17, 2024 when Mr. Phan Ngoc Vu traveled to be a witness in the case of the deaths of 6 Vietnamese tourists at a luxury hotel in the Ratchaprasong area of Bangkok, in the area of the Lumphini Police Station. Later, the police found that he had been poisoned with cyanide. The perpetrator was Ms. Cherine Chong, 56, one of the 6 deceased. The cause of the incident was owing 10 million baht. The Tourist Police then followed Mr. Phan’s behavior until they found out that Mr. Phan was working as a tour guide taking Vietnamese tourists to various tourist attractions befor
e finally arresting him.

Initially, the police charged him with ‘operating a tour business without permission / acting as a tour guide without permission / and being an alien who was permitted to stay in the Kingdom of Thailand to work or be employed without a work permit or working in a prohibited occupation (tour guide or tour leader)’ and took him to Phaya Thai Police Station for legal proceedings.
