Wow! Wat Nong Pho, Saraburi Province, dismantles an old temple, finds tens of thousands of amulets buried under the base of a Buddha statue, along with a large number of coins, ready to be distributed to villagers who come to the Kathin ceremony.

This was the moment when a backhoe dug up amulets, including a large number of amulets and old coins, buried under the base of a Buddha statue in the old chapel of Wat Nong Pho, Wihan Daeng District, Saraburi Province, which was in the process of being demolished. When they first dug down, they found that the four bases of the Buddha statues were very heavy and could not be lifted up, so they had a backhoe hit them until the cement cracked. When they opened them up, they found a large number of amulets.

Phra Khru Samut Prasit Thirapanyo, 49, the abbot of Wat Nong Pho, said that since the temple was old and dilapidated, the temple felt that it should renovate the landscape by demolishing the old temple first and then building a new one. Therefore, they hired a bac
khoe to demolish it. He did not know that there were sacred objects buried there. The amulets found include Luang Pu Thuat (powder), Luang Pu Kanha, the former abbot, Luang Pho Sod of Wat Pak Nam, Phra Somdej (powder), Phra Nang Phaya, Buddha images of Luang Pho Sothorn, old baht coins and 5 baht coins, totaling more than 10,000 coins. There will be a meeting of the temple committee and consideration will be given to distributing them to the villagers who come to the Kathin ceremony in the next few months.

The Buddha image found is an ancient Buddha image, likely placed there when the temple was built. Wat Nong Pho was built 117 years ago. After digging it up, some villagers came to ask to worship it. Some people took it and returned it because they were afraid that something mysterious would come to claim it or they might be afraid of sin.
