Royal Thai Army, The Royal Thai Army clarified the case of personnel injured by heatstroke during field training, confirming that an investigation committee will be set up to provide fairness to all parties.

Lt. Col. Richa Suksuwanon, deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Army, revealed that according to the news reported in the public media about the Army personnel being injured from heatstroke during field training, in which the patient’s relatives complained to the training supervisor that they were overreacting during the training and violating the principles of first aid for the patient, the Royal Thai Army has investigated the facts and found that the incident occurred on July 20, 2024 during a field training of the military unit in Chonburi Province during the training phase of a 6-kilometer long-distance training to assemble field equipment.

During the training, the patient became so weak that he lost consciousness while walking at the 5th kilometer. Therefore, first aid was given and the patient was
sent to a local military hospital for treatment. The doctor diagnosed that the injury was from heatstroke, which caused abnormal kidney function. Therefore, the patient was sent for further treatment at Phramongkutklao Hospital, Bangkok. Currently, the patient’s condition is gradually improving. He has started to eat liquid food. The infection and fever have started to decrease. However, the kidney function has not returned to normal. Therefore, continuous treatment and evaluation of the symptoms by the doctor are required.

During the time of treatment, the unit of origin took care of and facilitated the medical expenses in excess of the medical rights and arranged accommodation for relatives who came to visit the patient closely. As for the issue that was complained about overreacting in the training and violating the principles of first aid for patients, the unit of origin set up an investigation committee, the platoon commander who supervised the training and those involved according to the Military Disci
pline Act.

The Royal Thai Army and its affiliated units are ready to provide justice and provide medical care to the said personnel to the best of their ability.
