Gen. Surachet files a petition with the Administrative Court to object to the ruling.
Prime Minister Settha Thavisin gave an interview on the case of the Police Ethics Protection Commission (PEPC) considering the appeal of Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakpal, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, who was ordered to temporarily resign from the civil service. The order was carried out in accordance with the principles and methods set by the law and the Royal Thai Police Commission (RTP) regulations, and it was an appropriate exercise of discretion, so it was a lawful order. He said that he had heard that a clear resolution had been made and that he was waiting for the Office of the Prime Mi
nister to coordinate the matter. If the resolution is final, he would submit it for royal endorsement.
When asked if Pol. Gen. Surachet would have to wait for this step if he filed a petition to the Administrative Court to object to the ruling, the Prime Minister said that that was another matter. It was Pol. Gen. Surachet’s right, which was as he had said. If the National Police Commission made a resolution, he would have to proceed accordingly.
As for whether Pol. Gen. Surachet will be removed from the list of candidates for the National Police Chief or not, because the appointment of a new National Police Chief is approaching, the Prime Minister said that he did not want to interfere in that area because the matter must first be received from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat to see what the National Police Commission decides. After that, it will be submitted for royal endorsement. Therefore, he did not want to interfere and asked that it proceed step by step as normal.
When asked if this w
ould cause candidates for the NPB to rush to produce results, the Prime Minister said that he thought that the results were already in the consciousness of all deputy NPBs. Everyone did not work just for the position, but everyone worked for the benefit of the people. Various problems, such as drugs and call centers, were already important to everyone. On August 6, he met with Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, the deputy NPB, who was concerned about many things. He had given orders on many things.
