Government House, 15 Oct. – Prime Minister reveals that the Cabinet has assigned the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Finance to jointly study and implement the policy of a 20 baht flat-rate electric train fare to reduce the cost of living for the people.

Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, said after the cabinet meeting that the cabinet meeting concluded 4 main issues. The first issue is additional flood relief, which was initially approved at 9,000 baht per household and an additional 10,000 baht per household for mud cleaning. This is currently under investigation in the area. There is also the exemption of water fees for cleaning houses and electricity fees. The Ministry of Finance will propose measures to help reduce taxes on various expenses, reduce rent on crown property, and provide low-interest loans to restore damaged houses and businesses with both state and private banks.

In addition, the Cabinet meeting assigned the Minister of Transport and the Minister of Finance to jointly
study and implement the policy of 20 baht flat-rate electric train fares, with both ministries studying the matter in order to reduce the burden on the public. If the public uses electric trains more, it will reduce pollution. Both ministries must consider the benefits and financial value, and the source of the money, as well as how to manage and explain it so that the public can benefit from this policy as soon as possible.

The Prime Minister also stated that the Cabinet has approved the proposal by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to extend the period for exemption from submitting the form of aliens or TM.6 who travel into or out of the Kingdom at 16 immigration checkpoints both on land and on water from October 16, 2024 to April 30, 2025 and for the Ministry of Interior to issue an announcement on its part to reduce travel procedures and promote tourism to stimulate the economy. -316.-Thai News Agency
