Government House, PM unaware of “Pita” talking to 18 ambassadors about the party dissolution case, insists Thailand is independent, no one has the right to interfere in the justice process, reveals this afternoon the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is preparing to explain the details of the UN letter after some parties were concerned about the content.

Prime Minister Settha Thavisin gave an interview after the cabinet meeting regarding the case of Pita Limjaroenrat, MP for the party list and chief advisor to the leader of the Move Forward Party, discussing with ambassadors from 18 countries about the dissolution of the Move Forward Party, which has caused many parties to worry that it will interfere with the Thai justice process. First of all, I must say that I do not know whether there was any discussion on this matter because there was a meeting, but I do not know the content of what was discussed. However, in Thailand’s justice process, I personally think that the justice system and the administrative system
of all 18 countries are clearly separated. The executive branch has no right to interfere with the justice process anyway. And the justice process of Thailand is neutral and internationally accepted by all parties.

‘I can’t speak for others, but I personally respect the justice process. All reporters probably know, even in my own case. I came in as prime minister and came in to administer the country. If there are issues or complaints, it is my duty to report them to the justice system and wait for the decision. As for me, I already informed them that I submitted my case last week. I am waiting for the decision on August 14. I have not talked to anyone. Our country is independent, but we must respect them as well. I don’t know the details of the discussions,’ said Mr. Settha.

As for the concerns about the content of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ letter to the United Nations (UN), when translated into Thai, the content is quite severe regarding the dissolution of the Move Forward Party. The Prime Minister
said that it must be stated that this is a related matter. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs must provide an explanation to the UN. As for the translation, it is better to ask the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify what was translated. However, our position is that we do not interfere with the judicial system. We will not allow anyone to interfere with our judicial system. I believe that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will make a statement this afternoon.

When asked whether many parties are concerned about the situation, especially tomorrow (August 7) ??when the verdict of the Move Forward Party’s case will be made, has he talked with the security sector? The Prime Minister said that he personally has not talked with the security sector and is confident that everyone is calm and accepts the verdict of the justice process. In fact, we should be like that anyway.
