The government awards 65 million baht in prize money to athletes.


The government held a victory party and presented prize money to 2024 Olympic athletes, coaches and associations totaling more than 65 million baht.

The 6 Olympic 2024 medal heroes include “Nong Tennis” Panipak Wongpattanakit, a two-time Olympic gold medalist in taekwondo; “View” Kunlavut Vitidsarn, an Olympic silver medalist in badminton; “B” Janjam Suwanpheng, a bronze medalist in female boxing; and the weightlifting team, including “Fang” Theeraphong Silachai and “Wave” Weerapol Wichuma, two silver medalists in weightlifting; and “Oil” Surajana Kambao, an Olympic bronze medalist. In addition, athletes who will compete in the “Paris Games 2024” will join the procession on an open-top double-decker vehicle to celebrate their success with the public and sports fans.

By taking a car from the National Olympic Committee of Thailand office, starting along Phitsanulok Road, there was a long drum procession and a loudspeaker in front to create excitement, passing Phan Fa Bridge, going to Ratchadamnoen Road, circ
ling the Democracy Monument, with people congratulating on both sides of the road.

The procession entered Government House, where all athletes attended a victory celebration party and presented prize money. Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, presided over the presentation of the gold medals worth 12 million baht, silver medals worth 7.2 million baht, and bronze medals worth 4.8 million baht. For athletes who did not receive a medal, 100,000 baht was given to each of the 47 athletes, totaling 65,900,000 baht in prize money for athletes, coaches, and associations. This time, the money was transferred in real time to the athletes.

Mr. Suriya thanked the athletes who brought fame to the country and gave 20,000 baht to each of the athletes who did not win a medal. Meanwhile, Mr. Komon Jungrungreungkit, Chairman of Summit Footwear Co., Ltd. or Aerosoft, gave an additional bonus of 3 million baht to the athletes who won a gold medal, 2 million baht to the silver
medal, and 1 million baht to the bronze medal. He also gave 1 million baht to the Ban Thong Yod Badminton Club and 30,000 baht to each of the athletes who did not win a medal.

Tennis Panipak, the two-time Olympic gold medalist, was the representative who thanked everyone for the warm welcome from all sectors, including the public who came to congratulate her. She also stated that it would be good if athletes could have a stable career when they retire.
