The Department of Intellectual Property launched the “Karma-Washing Game” to showcase the Soft Power of the book fair, with the winning work in the T-Toon Script Contest 2024 project.

The Department of Intellectual Property, in collaboration with Worldmillion Publishing by The World Engine, a subsidiary of KP Comic Group, producer and distributor of the novel ‘Game Lang Karma’, the winning entry in the T-Toon Script Contest 2024, out of over 300 entries, has developed the content to be rich, complete, and engaging to be further developed into a full-length novel. Pre-orders are now open at THE WORLD ENGINE booth at the 29th National Book Fair, held from October 10 – 20, 2024 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

Ms. Kanitha Kangsuanich, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Intellectual Property, revealed that the department prioritizes the promotion of the Soft Power policy and Thailand’s creative industries (Creative Industries) by using key mechanisms to drive it, which are the use of ‘
creativity’, which is an intellectual property, and ‘technology’ to increase the country’s economic value and competitiveness, especially creative works that can combine Thai soft power with modern digital technology, such as the success of the T-TOON Script Contest 2024 project. The department is ready to promote ‘Game Lang Karma’, the winning work from the pen of Mr. Suwat Posayawatthanakul, the owner of the pen name Watu Koh (Watu Koh), to be further developed to demonstrate the potential of Thai writers’ works to be recognized in the circle of novel readers, leading to the creation of fame, income, and further business value.

Ms. Kanitha added that ‘Game Leng Karma’ has an interesting, intense and engaging content, reflecting the Buddhist beliefs of Thai people about merit and sin. Currently, Game Leng Karma has been made into a Thai webtoon published on the ReadAWrite application, with more than 700 readers. It has also been used to make a webtoon trailer with English subtitles, which has been published

on Facebook, YouTube and X (Twitter) of KP Comics Studio, with more than 142,000 views.

The Department of Intellectual Property has collaborated with Worldmillion Publishing to promote the development of the works of Thai writers to be known among novel readers both domestically and internationally.
