Government House, The Cabinet has approved the allocation of the annual budget for fiscal year 2024, the central budget, the reserve fund for emergency or necessary cases, to construct a central residential building and a police parking building.

Ms. Kanika Unjit, Deputy Government Spokesperson, announced that the Cabinet meeting resolved to approve the allocation of the annual budget for fiscal year 2024, the central budget, the reserve fund for emergency or necessary cases, in the amount of 300 million baht, to construct two 68-family central residential buildings and one eight-story parking building in Samsen Nai Subdistrict, Phaya Thai District, Bangkok, in order to improve the quality of life, welfare, and alleviate financial hardship, as well as to boost the morale and encouragement of police officers, as proposed by the Royal Thai Police.

The deputy spokesman said that the police have missions in crime prevention and suppression, maintaining internal peace and order, maintaining safety of life and p
roperty for the people, and controlling crowds or groups of protesters. It is necessary to mobilize police officers to perform such duties and missions 24 hours a day. It is also necessary to have accommodation close to the workplace so that officers can be mobilized to perform duties immediately 24 hours a day. Currently, the police have 7 central housing buildings, totaling 86 buildings and 5,718 rooms, which is not enough for the number of police officers currently on duty. There are 3,963 people waiting to receive accommodation (central), which costs approximately 8.16 million baht per year to rent a house.

On February 13, 2024, the Prime Minister inspected the central housing building of the Chalermlap Police Station, which has been in use for more than 45 years. As a result, the building has deteriorated and is not suitable for living and is not worth repairing and improving. The Prime Minister therefore had the idea to have the police revise and revise the construction plan of the residential building
to be more modern and in line with the current residential area, and to provide housing welfare to junior police officers to ease the burden of expenses, increase green space around the residential area, and reduce waste and pollution. Later, the committee considering the policy of land use and police station buildings at the 3/2024 meeting resolved to use the Crown Property Land, which is an empty area near the football field, which is in the possession of the police, in the area of ??the central housing building of the Chalermlap Police Station, Samsen Nai Subdistrict, Phaya Thai District, Bangkok, to develop in accordance with the aforementioned policy of Mr. Montree.

However, since the police cannot adjust the operational plan and budget spending plan due to necessary missions such as tracking down criminals in major cases, cases of public interest, solving traffic problems, terrorism, human trafficking, transnational crimes, it has proposed to request the allocation of the annual budget for fiscal year
2024, the central budget, the reserve fund for emergency or necessary cases, in the amount of 300 million baht, to be used for the construction of the central residential building and the parking building, with the construction period set to start within fiscal year 2024 and completion within 12 months, with the following details:

There are 2 common residential buildings, consisting of 1 building for non-commissioned police officers and 1 building for commissioned police officers. There are 68 rooms per building and a usable area of ??3,995 square meters per building. The police reported that it does not fall under the category of projects that require an environmental impact assessment report.

Parking building, 1 building, 8 floors high (22.40 meters), can park 136 cars.
