Thaksin” wearing a yellow shirt, smiling, came to the court as scheduled to examine evidence in the case that the prosecutor ordered to charge under Section 112, said “I’m not worried at all”.

At the Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road, the court scheduled an examination of evidence in the case filed by the Office of the Attorney General against Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra under Section 112 of the Criminal Code in courtroom 913 regarding an interview he gave to a South Korean media outlet in 2015, which implicated the monarchy. On June 18, Mr. Thaksin was granted temporary release on bail of 500,000 baht. Mr. Thaksin provided a bank account book as bail, and the court set a condition that the defendant is prohibited from leaving the country unless permitted by the court.

Today, court officials have set up iron fences to block off the area for the media on the stairs leading up to the court, and have set up a table to exchange cards for the media. Security at the Criminal Court is also normal, but additional f
orces have been requested from the Metropolitan Police Bureau 2 and court police officers to provide assistance. Initially, the Criminal Court will not allow the media to listen to the trial, but an area will be set up at the stairs in front of the building.

Later at 08.05 hrs., Mr. Winyat Chatmontri, lawyer for Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister, arrived at the Criminal Court. Then at 08.52 hrs., Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, former Prime Minister, arrived at the Criminal Court wearing a yellow shirt underneath a black suit. He got out of the car with a smile on his face before saying that there was nothing to worry about.

When asked what evidence he had prepared, he said, ‘There’s nothing much, it’s a matter for the lawyers. It’s a case that happened after the revolution, so it’s probably the use of the law to tighten power.’

Thaksin reiterated that he was ‘not worried at all.’ When asked if wearing a yellow shirt today symbolized anything, Thaksin said briefly, ‘It’s clear.’

After that, he walked
into the court, where today, Mr. Thaksin used 7 lawyers. For this case, the prosecutor filed a lawsuit against Mr. Thaksin as a defendant to the court on June 18, 2024, on charges of lese majeste and jointly importing into the computer system any computer data that is an offense against the security of the Kingdom, according to the Criminal Code, Section 83, 112, Order of the National Administrative Reform Council No. 41 dated October 21, 1976, Section 1, the Computer Crime Act B.E. 2550, Section 3, 14, the Computer Crime Act (No. 2) B.E. 2560, Section 8, with Mr. Thaksin being granted temporary release on bail of 500,000 baht, with the condition that the defendant is prohibited from leaving the country unless permitted by the court.

However, previously on July 27, Mr. Thaksin filed a request to travel outside the Kingdom to the United Arab Emirates (Dubai) between August 1-16, 2024, to see a doctor and make appointments with several important people. The court ordered a hearing of the request and issued an
order on July 30 not allowing the defendant to travel outside the country, dismissing the request.

According to the procedure, today the defendant must come to court in person to examine the evidence of the other party.
