Thai Catholics join together to celebrate His Majesty the King’s 72nd birthday

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Thailand held a ceremony to offer blessings and a thanksgiving ceremony to honor His Majesty the King on the occasion of His Majesty’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2024.

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Thailand organized a ceremony to offer blessings and thanksgiving to honor His Majesty the King on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2024 at the Assumption Cathedral, Bang Rak District, Bangkok. The event was attended by the bishops of all 11 parishes, Archbishop Peter Brian Wells, the Apostolic Nuncio to Thailand, Bishop Francis Xavier Vira Arpornrat, Secretary-General of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Thailand, priests, male and female religious, Mr. Chaipol Suk-iam, Director-General of the Department of Religious Affairs, Dr. Apichat Intarawisit, representatives of the Catholic laity, representatives of government agencies and the private sector, as well as the faithful.

thi, President of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Thailand, delivered a speech of praise for His Majesty the King, part of which reads:

‘On this most auspicious occasion, we all recall the royal duties that His Majesty, the Supreme Patron of Religion, has performed in relation to the Catholic Church in Thailand since His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, such as His Royal Highness’s visit to participate in important ceremonies organized by the Church on special occasions, as well as His Royal Highness’s visit to Catholic educational institutions and religious sites.

Another special event that Thai Catholics have always had in their hearts is when His Majesty received two Popes who visited the Kingdom of Thailand: the first time His Majesty received Pope John Paul II in 1984 and the second time when His Majesty received Pope Francis in 2019.

Both occasions are a great honor for the Thai Catholic Church and are also a sign of the long-standing and strong friendship between the Kingdom of T
hailand and the Holy See.’

Then, Cardinal Francis Xavier Kriangsak Kovitvanich presided over the Thanksgiving Mass. In one of his homily, the Reverend shared:

‘The opportunity for us Thai Catholics to join in the thanksgiving ceremony to honor His Majesty the King on the occasion of His Majesty’s 60th Birthday Anniversary.

The Roman Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Thailand has organized activities to honor this auspicious occasion by inviting Catholic brothers and sisters throughout the country to join together to show their loyalty and gratitude by having every temple organize a royal eulogy and a thanksgiving ceremony in honor of His Majesty the King nationwide on Sunday, July 28, 2024 and offer prayers to God in the Mass Prayer for His Majesty the King in the thanksgiving ceremony every Sunday from His Majesty’s birthday anniversary throughout 2024.

On the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King’s 60th Birthday Anniversary on 28 July 2024, all Thai Catholics join together to thank God and pray toge
ther to ask for abundant blessings for the Supreme Patron of Religion. May the Almighty God bless and protect him, grant him blessings and wisdom, live long, be happy, and have great fame in all directions, and be a source of inspiration for His Majesty the King along with Her Majesty the Queen and all members of the Royal Family.
