Miscellaneous

Watch every minute. The Yom River flowing through the economic zone of Sukhothai city is starting to fill the water barrier. While the embankment in Yang Sai Subdistrict, Mueang Sukhothai District has been eroded by the Yom River for more than 50 meters, the water has flooded the area widely.

The embankment blocking the Yom River in Wang Pho village, Yang Sai sub-district, Mueang district, Sukhothai, was eroded by the force of the fast-flowing Yom River, which has eroded the embankment for more than 50 meters since early this morning. This caused the water to overflow and flood more than 100 houses and a large area of ??agricultural land. The force of the water has made it impossible for officials to seal the leak.

Mr. Suchart Teekasuk, Governor of Sukhothai Province, visited the area where the embankment broke and ordered the establishment of a rescue point to mobilize officers and soldiers from the 23rd Transport Battalion, 3rd Combat Support Command, Somdej Phra Ekathotsarot Camp, Phitsanulok, to help f
ill sandbags and arrange them across the waterway to reduce the impact on the villagers.

The headman of Yang Sai Subdistrict revealed that the road along the Yom River is an embankment along the bank that has been eroded by the Yom River for more than 50 meters. The incident occurred at 5:00 a.m. today, causing water to overflow into the area quickly and spread over a wide area, affecting approximately 120 households. Importantly, there are still approximately 100 rai of rice fields that have not yet been harvested, even though there have been warnings and some have already been harvested.

The water level in the Yom River since last night until this morning is still considered to be at a critical point in all areas, which is due to the large amount of water flowing from the north from Phrae Province, causing Sukhothai Province to be affected as mentioned, amidst the strong preventive efforts of many relevant officials, especially the inner economic zone of Sukhothai Municipality, which must monitor the wate
r level situation in the Yom River 24 hours a day from now on.

The latest water level of the Yom River at point Y4 in front of the Sukhothai Provincial Governor’s Residence has reached 7.63 meters, almost reaching the critical point at 8 meters 10 centimeters. The volume of water flowing through is 469.60 cubic meters/second, still brimming along the entire length of Mueang Sukhothai District. As for the water level measurement point in Si Samrong District, it has reached the critical point at the water level measurement station Y 33 and will continue to flow into Mueang District.
