Student Loan Fund reveals that in 2024, students will borrow more, adjusting the loan amount from 48,344 million baht to 51,278 million baht, and restructuring debt in more than 168,000 cases.

The Student Loan Fund (SLF) has expanded the loan limit for the 2024 academic year from the original 48,344 million baht to 51,278 million baht to accommodate the 837,009 new borrowers. As a result of the debt restructuring, more than 168,000 borrowers have signed contracts.

Mr. Chainarong Kachpanan, Manager of the Student Loan Fund (SLF), revealed that ‘Currently, the Fund Committee has resolved to approve the extension of the lending framework for the 2024 academic year, resulting in an increase in the number of student borrowers from the original 769,009 to 837,009, with an increase in the loan amount from the original 48,344 million baht to 51,278 million baht to help with the educational expenses of students and parents.

For the progress of debt restructuring to help borrowers, the fund has extended the repayme
nt period for another 15 years, immediately relieved the guarantor of the burden, and provided a 100% discount on all suspended fines after the debt is paid off. The fund has signed debt restructuring contracts in Bangkok and other provinces nationwide from February to September 2024. There are more than 168,000 borrowers who have entered into debt restructuring contracts.

For the overall debt repayment this year, the Fund has received a repayment of 23,359 million baht (data as of August 31, 2024). On this occasion, the Fund would like to thank all borrowers who have taken responsibility in repaying their student loans to provide revolving funds to pass on educational opportunities to the younger generations, as well as thank the agencies and related persons who have continuously supported the Fund’s operations to create opportunities for students, learners, and the general public to access education,’ said the Fund Manager.
