Sending 5th Thai soldier to join the United Nations peacekeeping mission in South Sudan.

General Songwit Noonpakdee, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, presided over the ceremony to send off the 273 personnel of the 5th Royal Thai/South Sudan Special Forces Engineer Company at the Royal Thai Army Headquarters, who are scheduled to travel to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) for peacekeeping missions.

This deployment is to rotate personnel between the 4th rotation of the Thai/South Sudan Special Forces Engineer Company, which has been on a mission since July 2023 until now.

For the 5th rotation of the Thai/South Sudanese Special Forces Engineer Company, there are 273 personnel, consisting of 17 personnel from the Royal Thai Army Headquarters and 256 personnel from the Royal Thai Army, of which 28 female soldiers will be joining the operation. The personnel are scheduled to leave Thailand to carry out their mission on 18 August and 6 September.

company has been recognized by the United Nations and other organizations for its professionalism, including its efficient engineering work assigned by the mission engineering department, as well as its application of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy to develop sustainable security for the people of the Republic of South Sudan, along with its tactical missions. Therefore, the Thai military has been continuously considered by the United Nations to participate in peacekeeping missions up until the present.
