Royal Thai Army Academy Scandal: Investigation Ordered into Alleged Abuse by Instructor.

Bangkok: The Deputy Commander of the Royal Police Cadet Academy has mandated a thorough investigation into a scandal involving an instructor at the academy, as well as fellow police officers, who are accused of sexually abusing a student. The implicated instructor is expected to be relieved of his duties. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Police Bureau has acknowledged that, despite the accused officer’s seemingly impeccable appearance, he has a longstanding history of inappropriate behavior towards colleagues.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident came to light following a social media post that exposed the misconduct of a teacher at the Sam Phran Police Cadet School, along with other police officers. Pol. Maj. Gen. Sakrapee Priewphanit, Deputy Commander of the Royal Police Cadet Academy, disclosed that he has been aware of the incident since it occurred. The case was initially brought to attention by students consulting with a police lieutenant, prompting an investigation. It is reported that two first-yea
r students were assaulted, allegedly due to fear of offending their seniors. The accused perpetrator is identified as a teacher from the Royal Police Cadet Academy 1, with another suspect being an outsider. The investigation remains ongoing, and the identities of the perpetrators are yet to be confirmed. It is emphasized that the decision to press charges lies with the victims, who are of legal age.

The Deputy Commander acknowledged that the incident has tarnished the image of the academy and the police organization. Should the victims choose to press charges, and if the teacher is found guilty, he will face dismissal from the police force to prevent setting a negative precedent. A fact-finding committee will be established to determine the appropriate disciplinary action, which may include suspension or removal from teaching duties.

The academy has been holding continuous discussions to address these scandals, recognizing the need for preventive measures. Despite the societal acceptance of LGBTQ individual
s, inappropriate conduct within the academy’s confines is deemed unacceptable. The focus remains on enforcing discipline and ensuring that the organization adheres to its duties and responsibilities.

Reports indicate that the incident involves a police officer of the rank Pol. Lt. Col. from Class 66 of the Royal Police Cadet Academy and a Metropolitan Police Investigator of the same rank. Both officers allegedly used their seniority to intimidate juniors, leading to disciplinary and criminal violations. Despite prior warnings from superiors, their behavior persisted, instilling fear among cadets. While the law acknowledges LGBTQ rights, the academy aims to maintain a respectful and disciplined environment, free from fear and misconduct.
