Rare rainbow clouds emerge in Ho Chi Minh City

Miscellaneous

Ho Chi Minh citizens had a wonderful Sunday afternoon with the sudden emergence of rare rainbow clouds on May 12. The rainbow colourful halo is actually an atmospheric optical phenomenon called cloud iridescence. This occurs when water droplets or ice crystals in the cloud diffract the light around the outside of the droplet, as opposed to bending the light through it.
