Bangkok: PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (OR) has announced its readiness to adjust the biodiesel blend in regular diesel from B7 to B5, in accordance with the Energy Policy Administration Committee’s (E.P.O.C.) resolution. This adjustment aims to align with current crude oil price trends and crude palm oil (CPO) stock levels in the country, and will take effect from November 21 onwards.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Piman Poolsri, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Retail Business at OR, stated that PTT Station is fully prepared to implement the government’s policy by adjusting the proportion of biodiesel in regular diesel. This change applies to both Xtra Save Diesel and Super Power Diesel, shifting to the B5 formula, which includes biodiesel content between 5 and 7 percent by volume. This formula is compatible with all diesel vehicle types, models, and years. The adjustment not only aligns with governmental policies but also reflects OR’s commitment to sustainable development, balan
cing societal, environmental, and economic care. Additionally, it aims to ease living expenses and promote environmentally friendly energy use, alongside fostering sustainable use of local resources.
The standard diesel grade, Xtra Save, is enhanced with engine power boosters up to 1.5 times, while the premium diesel grade, Super Power, offers maximum efficiency. The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) decided to reduce the biodiesel blend from B7 to B5 due to the decreased and costly palm oil supply. Lowering the biodiesel mix proportion will increase palm oil availability for consumption and help reduce the public biodiesel price.
