PRACHUAP KHIRI KHAN: Police and local authorities in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province have intensified their security operations following a series of aggressive activities by a Myanmar youth gang, which included theft and threats against local Thai residents.

According to Thai News Agency, the group of over ten Myanmar teenagers formed a gang that snatched helmets from a school and pursued their Thai adversaries in the Ban Huai Takhian area of Bang Saphan District. The gang’s actions escalated when they used social media to taunt the government and local villagers, boldly stating intentions to repeat their offenses, thus instilling fear in the community.

In response, the Prachuap Khiri Khan investigation unit and local government officials have increased patrols and inspections around Village 12 in Chaikasem Subdistrict and adjacent areas. Checkpoints have been established to search for illegal items, aiming to reassure and protect the public. Additionally, local agencies have organized community meetings to e
ducate and encourage residents to report any suspicious activities, particularly regarding the employment status of Myanmar workers in the area.

Moreover, employers found to be illegally harboring workers are facing legal repercussions. The village head has also facilitated the filing of a formal complaint by the affected villagers at the Thung Chai Police Station, providing the authorities with further evidence to address the situation effectively.
