Bangkok: Organizing the list of khaki generals in Thailand has taken a significant step forward with expectations that Pol. Lt. Gen. Santi Chainiramai will rise to the position of Metropolitan Police Bureau Commissioner. The restructuring process also sees Pol. Maj. Gen. Phanumas Boonlak poised to become the Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, and Pol. Lt. Gen. Surapol Prembut anticipated to move to the role of Commander of Provincial Police Region 2.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting to consider these appointments was chaired by Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police. The session aimed to appoint police officers to several key positions, including Deputy Commissioner-General and Commander-in-Chief roles. Other attendees included high-ranking officials such as Pol. Gen. Thana Chuwong and Pol. Gen. Kraibhun Truadsong, along with representatives from the Civil Service Commission.
The meeting, initially scheduled for earlier in the day, was postponed multiple tim
es due to commitments of Pol. Gen. Kraibhun. It eventually commenced at 7:30 p.m. and involved detailed scrutiny of candidates based on qualifications, seniority, and performance records.
Vacant positions under consideration included four Deputy Commissioner General spots, seven Assistant Commissioner General roles, and fourteen Commander General level positions. Key promotions at the Deputy Commissioner level are expected for Pol. Lt. Gen. Prachuap Wongsuk and others, based on seniority.
The restructuring also involves promotions at the assistant police chief level, with several commanders from different bureaus and regions expected to advance. The Police Commissioner positions are anticipated to be filled by candidates meeting the seniority criteria.
Notably, Pol. Lt. Gen. Santi Chainiramai is expected to assume leadership of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, with other significant transfers and promotions outlined for various regional police commanders and bureau heads.
The restructuring aims to align le
adership with seniority, expertise, and performance. Proposed changes will undergo further scrutiny, with the final list to be submitted to the National Police Commission meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra for final approval.
