The Prime Minister revealed that the Ministry of Transport will set up a legal framework to inspect buses throughout the country, looking for ways to prevent the use of yellow buses like in Europe. In terms of public health, they are expediting mental health relief for those affected. They pointed out that the field trip opened up the world and did not harm the children, but rather the condition of the vehicles, which caused the accident.

Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, announced after a meeting with Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health, Pol. Gen. Kittiratt Panpetch, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police acting as Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, and relevant agencies about the incident of a school bus carrying teachers and students catching fire tha
t the police officers have already checked the identities of the people to identify them and transport the students and teachers back to Uthai Thani Province.

As for the Ministry of Transport, there is the matter of compensation and review of various regulations to see what to do next, which will be coordinated between the Ministry of Transport and the Royal Thai Police.

While the Ministry of Public Health has sent psychiatrists to the area, initial mental health screenings of students, both in the Bangkok shelter and in Uthai Thani Province, have been completed.

The Prime Minister also said that during the meeting, he discussed with the Ministry of Transport about the guidelines for using yellow buses with rear exit doors and universal safety systems that schools in the United States and Europe use, which will require planning in the future.

‘Actually, field trips are about opening up the world to children. We don’t want to solve the problem at the end because field trips don’t hurt children. But cars th
at are not taken care of, cars that are not inspected are what cause accidents, and they are real accidents on the road. We have to solve the problem of how the Ministry of Transport will set the framework, rules, and laws. We will use this opportunity to set a clearer system,’ said Ms. Paethongtarn.
