PM discusses with New Zealand to jointly drive strategic partnership

The Prime Minister discussed with the Prime Minister of New Zealand to drive strategic partnerships together, focusing on promoting the environment and modern technology industries, and being able to exchange experiences with each other as friendly countries, similar to the meeting with the Prime Minister of Japan. Both confirmed that they would drive the economy and industry together, including security.

On the final day of the 44th-45th ASEAN Summit and bilateral discussions with leaders of many countries in the Lao PDR this morning (11 October), Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, met with Mr. Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand, with important issues in trade and investment that both parties will focus on promoting an environment conducive to doing business.

New Zealand has praised Google’s investment in data centers and cloud systems, reflecting Thailand’s capability and its importance as a base for developing modern technology industries. New Zealand is also interested in invest
ing in high-end technology and renewable energy.

The New Zealand Prime Minister praised Thailand’s progress in the agricultural industry, especially the smart farming project, which allows both countries to exchange knowledge and experiences to develop and improve each other’s agricultural practices.

The atmosphere during the discussion was friendly, even though it was their first meeting. The Prime Minister and the New Zealand Prime Minister also discussed other issues, reflecting the close relationship between Thailand and New Zealand.

In addition, the Prime Minister held bilateral discussions with His Excellency ISHIBA Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan. The two talked and shook hands. The Prime Minister confirmed that he would continue the policy of promoting cooperation between Thailand and Japan, including issues of special economic zones and the automotive industry.

Similarly, the Japanese Prime Minister confirmed that he will cooperate with Thailand in energy, industry, automotive techno
logy, and especially security after having traveled to observe military affairs 6-7 times. The Prime Minister will assign the Minister of Defense to discuss with the Japanese side and coordinate through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
