“Phumtham” reveals preparation for coalition parties to submit list of ministerial candidates today, stresses strict qualifications check, declines to answer about quotas, leaves it to the Prime Minister to decide, while he insists he can work anywhere.
Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Acting Minister of Commerce, as the acting Prime Minister, spoke about the progress of the appointment of the new Cabinet after the new Prime Minister was appointed. He said that today, the coalition parties will be notified to submit the list of candidates from each party to the Cabinet Secretary and the Council of State to examine their qualifications, which must be examined more strictly and take longer due to the previous Constitutional Court ruling. This must be done as quickly as possible and the qualifications of both current ministers and the newly proposed names must be examined strictly, which depends on each party’s consideration. As for the quota for each party, the Prime Minister will ho
ld a meeting to discuss it again.
As for the Pheu Thai Party’s quota, it is a matter for the party’s executive committee to discuss and there will be further steps after this. As for whether there will be any adjustments to positions, I don’t know yet. It depends on the Prime Minister to decide what to do. I confirm that I can work in any position if I see fit. I am currently the Minister of Commerce, so I am comfortable. I have completed the work that was left to report and am ready to continue working.
When asked if there will be any changes to the coalition government or new parties joining, Mr. Phumtham said that it depends on each party. If tomorrow, they submit a complete list, they will know whether it will remain the same or not. As for the new party, there has been no discussion on this matter. The focus is on the current coalition government and there will be a government policy statement after the cabinet appointment process is complete.
As for the digital wallet policy, will it continue or not?
Mr. Phumtham said that the situation has changed, but the Prime Minister said the same thing as before that there is no change in the policy and that the policy will continue.
