Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, spoke about the flood situation in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces before the meeting of the Flood, Storm and Landslide Relief Operation Center (FLOOC), or FLOOC, that he asked to wait for details from the FLOOC meeting first, which will have details on additional compensation criteria that have been assigned to the National Economic and Social Development Board, the Budget Bureau, and the Council of State to jointly consider. Tomorrow, the Prime Minister and ministers will travel to both Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai provinces, and will separately visit critical areas.

Mr. Phumtham also said that in the northeastern region, it is not that they look down on or do not care, but rather, the flooding issue will cause some damage. However, the critical points are Mae Sai District
and Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province, because there is mud remaining in houses, an average of 1-12 meters high, and it takes an average of 30 people to clean each house per day. He also said that people should think about how hard the work will be, so they will need to use both good prisoners from the Department of Corrections, volunteers, and soldiers. He also emphasized that all relevant agencies are already in the area and are working separately. Today’s CPOC meeting will be a preparation before going to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai tomorrow.
