Phumtham” visited Chiang Rai Province, conveying his concerns and encouragement from “Paethongtarn”, the Prime Minister, to flood victims, emphasizing that governors must integrate their work in their areas and quickly alleviate the suffering of the people.

Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister acting on behalf of the Prime Minister, together with Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, and Mrs. Manoporn Charoensri, Deputy Minister of Transport, monitored the flood situation and met and gave encouragement and gave relief bags to people affected by the flood situation at the multipurpose hall of Ban Nong Bua, Tambon San Sai Ngam, Amphoe Thoeng, Chiang Rai Province.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that today he would meet and give encouragement to the people affected by the flood. Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, sent her concern and sent encouragement to the flood victims because she is not yet able to perform her duties completely. She must w
ait for the policy statement to the parliament before she can perform her duties. However, the Cabinet has full authority to administer the country and will solve the people’s problems to the fullest.

The Deputy Prime Minister said about the water situation this time that it was a major flood phenomenon. The water came and flowed away, leaving behind ruins and damage to farms. He had discussed with agencies to urgently solve the problem for the people. As for houses that were damaged, he had the provincial governors create a model for repairing houses, with support from the private sector for materials and equipment. Technical and vocational students will be the ones to repair houses for the people.

The Deputy Prime Minister continued that the flood situation is caused by seasonal changes, following climate change, which is caused by global warming. The problem must be solved without destroying forests. It must be serious. When the rain falls, there are no trees to absorb it, causing water to overflow and f
lood residential areas and agricultural areas of the people. For the immediate situation, the government has provided consumer goods for the people. Today, there are relief bags and there are many agencies, both government and private, who will bring them to the people as well.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the public should closely follow warnings and weather forecasts from government agencies. Currently, mobile vehicles have been deployed to collect data to accurately determine flooding points in order to warn the public in advance and use the data to solve the problem. The government will invest in water management throughout the system, making it a national agenda to fully care for the public. He asked the public to have the courage to continue fighting. The government is ready to back everything up to alleviate the public’s suffering as much as possible.

‘The government confirms that it will take full action. If there is anything beyond its capacity, please contact the governor, who

is the
command center for the province. I would like to encourage our brothers and sisters who are in distress. The government will quickly alleviate the suffering of the people,’ said Mr. Phumtham.

The Deputy Prime Minister and his entourage then traveled to Wiang Kaen Pittayakhom School, Ban Lai Ngao, Wiang Kaen District, Chiang Rai Province, to meet and provide encouragement, as well as provide relief bags to the affected people.
