Pheu Thai’ is not worried about being accused of ‘Thaksin’ dominating, complaining that people think stupidly, looking at the angle of eating ‘Thaksin-Newin-Anutin’ as dominating, sarcastically saying that some people struggle almost to death and do not become prime minister, asking back who would give it to another party, emphasizing that they will not amend Chapters 1-2 of the constitution.
Wisut Chainarun, MP for the party list and chairman of the Pheu Thai Party, said after Thirayut Suwannakasorn submitted a request to the Constitutional Court to order former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and the Pheu Thai Party to stop their actions that are the exercise of rights and freedoms that lead to the overthrow of the government, which has the issue of Thaksin’s control of the party, that he had always seen people talking about Thaksin’s control. He was the chairman of the party’s MP and government whip meeting, but he still did not see Thaksin giving orders. How could he control it? He had not received any
orders to do this or that. He still did not see what he was controlling.
When asked if he was concerned that this petition would lead to the dissolution of the party like the Move Forward Party, Mr. Wisut said that he did not know how it was a trigger. He had not read the details because at this time he was only concerned about the people in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Lamphun and those affected by the floods. The government had discussed how to solve the problem and provide compensation. It did not give importance or care about the issue of dissolving the party. The party did not discuss it and no one was worried.
As for whether it is connected to the fact that Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, as leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, brought Newin Chidchob to meet Thaksin, Mr. Wisut said that Newin and Anutin would go to meet Thaksin, but it was not to dominate his party, that was the Bhumjaithai Party. He did not know how it dominated the Bhumjaithai Party, but his party did not hav
e anything to do with it. Thaksin is the father of the Prime Minister. How could he from the Pheu Thai Party dominate the Bhumjaithai Party? That is not a point to waste time talking about.
Regarding the meeting, there were rumors that they were discussing exchanging prime ministerial positions. Mr. Wisut stated, ‘I think people who think like this are stupid. Your son is the prime minister. How can you give it to someone else? Many people have called me asking how it is possible. Prime Minister Paethongtarn has done a good job already. Why do you have to give it to another party? Everyone wants to be prime minister, right? Some people are still struggling to be prime minister. But they didn’t choose her. They chose Prime Minister Paethongtarn. But people who think like this have imaginations beyond human expectations.’
Part of the concern, especially about Mr. Thaksin’s vision, Mr. Wisut said that he was invited to present his vision, what he wanted to do for the country, which is a good thing if someone c
omes to advise him that he has done something and was successful in the country before, the people are happy, if he says something good, if any party sees it as good and useful, they will take advantage of it. How can he control the party? If he does, he has to order the party. Therefore, whether the government will continue what he has successfully done is up to the government, not the government.
When asked if he was worried about the issue being filed today, that there would be a political accident with the Pheu Thai Party, Mr. Wisut said that he was not worried about being filed, he was not worried, and emphasized that today we are more worried about our fellow citizens. Today, who is going to overthrow us? We are the government party, and our party leader is the prime minister. Why would we overthrow him? We are already in a democratic regime with the King as head of state. Pheu Thai MPs respect the institution.
As for the Pheu Thai Party’s position on the amendment of the constitution, will they not a
mend Chapters 1 and 2? Mr. Wisut said that the Pheu Thai Party has been saying since the last term, for 10 years, that we will not amend Chapters 1, 2, or the monarchy. They have said it clearly everywhere, on every stage. If you go and watch the clip, they all say with one voice that we will not touch Chapters 1 and 2 in amending the constitution. This matter is clear, there is no need to worry.
