Parliament, “Patima” shows vision for the election of the 1st Vice President of the Senate, inviting fellow senators to sing the Thai national anthem, uniting in one color, comparing senators to organs in the body that must work together for the benefit of the people and the country.

Opening the Senate meeting to consider selecting the First Vice President of the Senate, Mr. Patima Jirapaet, a member of the Senate, gave a vision: I would like to invite all senators, regardless of what profession you were elected from, what province you are from, or what color you are. Today we are sitting in this first meeting, so I would like to invite everyone to be of the same color, to have unity. We are of the same color: red, white, and blue, because we love our nation, religion, and monarchy.

Mr. Patima continued that a respected elder said that our 13th Senate is a set of Thai wisdom senators because we were selected by those who applied to elect us, without any rules like this in the world. Therefore, he thought t
hat if the people were to call the 13th Senate a set of Thai wisdom, it might be appropriate.

Mr. Patima added that he had not prepared to present his vision because someone had just whispered that his name would be proposed this morning. Therefore, he had only a short note for everyone to consider his thoughts. He would like to invite all 200 senators to work for the people. He wanted us to help build Thai society to be loving and united and stop quarreling. As senators, we should be good examples for MPs, Thai people, and Thai society in general.

Also, before I came up here, I asked the Senate Secretariat if I could invite everyone to sing the Thai national anthem together in this meeting room. Because the Thai national anthem has a clear meaning that we love unity and peace, is that right? Therefore, I would like us not to forget that since we were born, we have been singing our Thai national anthem.

Mr. Patima also said that what he would like to share with you is that the Senate is like an organ in th
e body with many parts, which are divided to perform functions that benefit the body. Therefore, we must work together for the benefit of the people and the country, focusing on helping people who are suffering. Today, Thailand is in a coma. According to the economic figures that everyone already knows, Thailand has economic problems. People are waiting for politics to crystallize to help solve the problems of the general public. Purchasing power has decreased significantly. SMEs have problems in trading. Exporters have problems sending goods abroad. There is corruption in the capital market sector in many companies, causing financial institutions to have to reserve a lot of debt. If politics are not stable, if we are going to invite foreign investors to invest in the country, they will not come. They will probably choose to go to a country where politics are stable and the economy is growing.

Mr. Patima suggested that today is the first day we are working together. We should not have conflicts in the Senate
. We must help create unity in the administration of the country. If the government does something good, we must support it. But if the government goes astray, we must warn it. We must help each other. I ask everyone to hurry up and do as Mr. Noppadol said. We must be proactive. There are pending matters and we must consider and complete at least 5 readings by August 6. I would like the Senate to work as a mixed system. Committee meetings may have to have more than one meeting.
