Parents heartbroken as child forced to dance at sports event ends in death

Parents are in tears as their daughter, suffering from lupus, is forced by her teacher to dance during a sports event until she faints and eventually dies. The director of education tells her to be proud of her daughter who sacrificed her life for the nation.

A couple filed a complaint with Mr. Phanumas, owner of the ‘Hia Piek Chuay Duai’ page, stating that their 17-year-old daughter, ‘Nong Fo,’ had died because a teacher at a municipal school in Udon Thani Province forced her to join an activity in the Khun Thong Buran Games, a sporting event for students under the Local Administrative Organization of Thailand, qualifying round, Northeastern Zone, even though their daughter had Lupus. In the end, their daughter died while performing a dance in the middle of the field during the closing ceremony.

Ms. Rung (pseudonym), 37 years old, a guardian, revealed that in June, her daughter told her parents that the school announced that they would be suspending school for about 2-3 weeks because they were going to or
ganize the Khun Thong Buran Games. However, the next day, her daughter informed her that the school would not be suspending school anymore. The teacher assigned her to be a staff member to help serve water and food, as well as other activities. The teacher would select students who were sick or had underlying diseases, about 10 students. At first, she was confused as to why the teacher would select students who were sick. Her daughter had lupus, so she was worried about her daughter because she was already sick. She asked her daughter if she could do it, and she said that if she could not do it, she had to do it because she was afraid of not passing the activity. After that, her daughter went to join the activity with her friends.

On June 29, the closing ceremony of the sports day, there was a dance performance in the middle of the field. No students showed up, so the teacher called all the sick student staff to dance instead. Suddenly, my daughter collapsed in the middle of the field. Her friends went to he
lp her, but the teacher told her not to go in and to finish dancing first. My daughter lay there for several minutes before an officer came to perform CPR. In the end, she was in a coma for 11 days before she passed away on July 11, 2024. The cause of my daughter’s death may have been that she already had a chronic disease and had been working too hard as a staff member. Plus, the teacher called her to perform outdoors, which caused her to faint and die. This incident was very sad because I had only one daughter. She was my parents’ hope and happiness. I loved my daughter very much. Even though she had lupus, my parents took good care of her and took her to get treatment until she was almost cured. But in the end, she had to leave like this.

The heartbreaking thing was when my daughter was sick and hospitalized at Udon Thani Hospital, the director of the municipality’s education department came to visit and told her parents to be proud that their daughter sacrificed herself for the country. We were shocked w
hen we heard that. After that, this director came to visit my daughter 4-5 times and said the same thing, making her parents proud that her daughter sacrificed herself for the country. He kept repeating it. I admit that as a parent, I never thought that a director would say something like that. I confirm that I will take legal action against those involved to the end. I have asked my lawyer to seek 12 million baht in damages, but the municipality has already paid 700,000 baht. However, I will continue to take legal action. My parents love my daughter very much. Even though she is sick, we have always taken care of her. We hope that she will recover from her illness because it is our parents’ hope. When she grows up, she wants to be a businessman and have her own coffee shop. But in the end, she had to end her life because the teacher forced her to do an activity. I would like to use my daughter’s case as a lesson. –
