ONCB opens secure room, prepares to destroy over 21 tons of seized drugs on September 26th

Mr. Apikij Ch. Rojanaprasert, Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board, together with relevant officials, jointly opened the storage room for seized drugs, ‘Stable Room’, with a committee and working group jointly inspecting and delivering seized drugs that had passed the examination, preparing to destroy them, totaling more than 21.10 tons, which is the first destruction of seized drugs under the government of Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister.

The drugs seized this time are the result of drug arrests nationwide during June – September 2024 from 126 cases. There are drugs seized from drug trafficking networks in the eastern region, including 13,313 kg (146 million tablets) of methamphetamine, 6,544 kg of crystal methamphetamine, 634 kg of ketamine, 537 kg of heroin, and other drugs weighing a total of more than 68 kg.

Mr. Aphikit added that the opening of the secure room was to demonstrate the transparent operation, to assure the public that these drugs will be compl
etely destroyed and will not be able to re-enter the cycle, and to help the public understand the process of solving the drug problem in a comprehensive manner.

The deputy secretary-general of the ONCB added that between 23-25 ??September 2024, the working group, consisting of the ONCB’s Narcotics Control Committee, the Narcotics Control Committee, the Narcotics Control Committee, the Narcotics Control Committee, the Transport and Security Committee, and the Destruction Committee, etc., will jointly inspect and deliver the narcotics that have been tested. The ONCB is scheduled to incinerate the narcotics on 26 September 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Akki Prakarn Public Company Limited, Bangpoo Industrial Estate, Samut Prakan Province, where Pol. Gen. Thawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, will co-chair the ceremony. The ONCB has set a goal to continuously destroy narcotics every 2 months.
