Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo stated that the Extraordinary Islamic Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is important as an additional effort to stop Israel’s attack on Palestine.t the summit, leaders of OIC countries will discuss the current situation in the Gaza Strip, which has been the center of conflict between Israel and the Palestinian freedom fighter group, Hamas, since October 7, 2023.
“At the summit, I will call for an immediate ceasefire and a bigger space for humanitarian assistance,” Widodo remarked before leaving for Riyadh from Juanda International Airport in Sidoarjo, East Java, on Friday.
From Riyadh, the president is scheduled to continue his visit to Washington D.C. on November 12 to meet US President Joe Biden on the following day.
ccording to Jokowi, as the president is widely known, the bilateral meeting with Biden was a good opportunity to echo Indonesia’s firm position regarding Gaza.
