Bangkok: National Telecom Public Company Limited (NT) and Eutelsat OneWeb, a global provider of low earth orbit satellite networks, are gearing up to introduce the SNP Gateway service at the Sirindhorn Satellite Station in Ubon Ratchathani Province. This facility is anticipated to become one of the region’s most advanced satellite communication service centers, with commercial services expected to commence in early January 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, NT’s CEO Pol. Col. Sanphachai Huvanand, speaking at the APSCC 2024 Satellite Conference and Exhibition in Thailand on November 5, 2024, emphasized that the development of the SNP Gateway for low-orbit satellites marks a significant advancement for NT. It aligns with their vision to establish a sustainable digital leadership and aims to enhance the communication infrastructure of both Thailand and its neighboring regions. litate efficient service delivery across Thailand and adjacent countries.
The low-orbit satellite service, set to be available in early December 2024, is expected to initially cater to international markets such as Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia, before expanding domestically. The initiative is projected to generate at least 200 million baht annually and represents a pivotal development in Thai telecommunications, enhancing national connectivity and integrating Thailand into a global communication network.
