Government House, 8 Oct – “Monporn” reveals that the Prime Minister has set up a committee to study the use of Khlong Toei Port, confirming that it is not aimed at creating an entertainment complex, indicating that it is aimed at improving the quality of life of the people and for commercial use.

Ms. Manoporn Charoensri, Deputy Minister of Transport, revealed about the appointment of a committee to consider guidelines for the utilization of the area around the Bangkok Port (Khlong Toei) to maximize benefits that Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, has already signed the appointment last week, with Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, as the chairman and herself as the first vice chairman. Therefore, we have to wait and see when Mr. Suriya will schedule the first meeting.

As for whether the area will be used as an entertainment complex or not, the Deputy Minister of Transport denied that the entertainment complex is a different matter and that they must wa
it for the law to be finalized. It is also not a matter of moving the Bangkok Port, but rather of improving the location to make it more suitable, as it covers an area of ??over 2,353 rai, and will be used as a Smart Port.

The reporter asked again whether it was not a study to plan to use it as an area to build an entertainment complex or not. Ms. Manop confirmed her original statement that it was ‘not’ because the area of ??the Bangkok Port will be a mixed-use building, including improving the quality of life of the people around the area and commercial purposes. However, she asked to wait for the results of the meeting first and she will try to do everything well.

However, Ms. Manop said that the draft of the Rail Transport Act will be submitted to the Cabinet meeting for consideration, which is considered a financial law. She proposed the draft of the Pheu Thai Party’s bill alongside the Cabinet’s draft. It is understood that once it passes the Cabinet, it will be submitted to the meeting next week. This
draft will be related to the 20-baht flat-rate electric train policy, and it is expected that the draft of the Joint Ticket Act will be submitted to the current parliamentary meeting. -317 – Thai News Agency
