Bangkok, The Meteorological Department warns the Northeast and East to prepare for heavy rain in some areas, which may cause flash floods and mudslides.

The Meteorological Department revealed that the monsoon trough is passing through the upper North, the upper Northeast, and the upper Laos, along with the southwest monsoon blowing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand with moderate strength. This will cause some areas in the North to experience heavy rain, with some areas in the eastern part of the Northeast and the eastern regions experiencing very heavy rain. People in the aforementioned areas should be careful of the dangers of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rain, which may cause flash floods and forest runoff, especially on hillsides near waterways and lowlands. The waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are moderate. The upper Andaman Sea will have waves approximately 2 meters high, while the lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf of Thailand will have waves 1-2 m
eters high. In areas with thunderstorms, the waves will be higher than 2 meters. Sailors in the aforementioned areas should sail with caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.

In addition, the depression in the upper South China Sea has its center approximately 300 kilometers southeast of Hainan Island, China. It is likely to intensify into a tropical storm. It is expected to move through Hainan Island and make landfall in southern China during July 21-23, 2024. This storm will not directly affect the weather in Thailand. Those who plan to travel to the area should check the weather conditions before traveling during the aforementioned period.
