Many sectors join together to help flood victims in Chiang Rai

Miscellaneous

The stream of generosity to help people continues to flow to Chiang Rai Province, both from the government and private sectors. At present, the water level in some areas has decreased, but in some areas there is still flooding and rain is falling.

As the water has not receded, the mission has not ended. Water police officers continue to brave the water currents to help villagers continuously. Today’s water level at Ban Koh Sai, Mae Sai, remains the same because last night there was heavy rain until this morning. Even though going through the water is difficult to help, in a situation like this we have the opportunity to see a cute picture when water police high-fived and tagged hands with children before wading through the water, assuring them that we will go together.

The Chiang Mai Police Aviation Unit flew a Bell 212 helicopter, number 2218, to provide support since yesterday (12 September) to help people trapped in the building by rappelling down from the roof of the building to send a field medical te
am to assess the symptoms and send them out of the area for treatment and deliver food to people in the area that the ground forces could not reach.

And today, we took off with one flight, a rappelling flight from a helicopter, bringing doctors to assess the symptoms of those trapped in the building, and delivering medicine and oxygen tanks to the patients. Food and survival kits were also transported from the helicopter to the water police officers on the ground to distribute to those affected who are still unable to leave the area due to the strong currents.

The navy is another water agency that is rushing to help patients and the elderly and people evacuate from flooded areas. Although the water level has decreased today, it is still fast. If there is no more rain, the situation may improve. In Muang District, there are still many victims trapped in buildings and there is a shortage of water and food. A special operations unit from the Naval Special Warfare Command has urgently helped a victim, a half-di
sabled woman, and her relatives from a 4-story building by transporting the victims to the drop-off point to safely transfer them to the medical team.

Then, they helped the families of the victims and the elderly, including the disabled man who lost his leg, to leave the area and return them to their relatives. In today’s cases, all of the cases that were helped were urgent, but they were able to work together with other agencies to transport the victims to the medical drop-off point safely, including delivering food to those who were still unable to leave their homes.

Another team that rushed to the area to help those affected by the disaster in Chiang Rai Province was Pee Lek Fan Den Charoenthanakorn and his Jai Thueng Jai team. When they got to Chiang Rai, they immediately went to help the villagers. Even though yesterday (12 September) the water current was still quite strong, the Jai Thueng Jai team did not back down and today they traveled to the villagers who have been stuck in their homes for 2 days
, delivering food and helping them by boat to a safe area.

At the same time, the Por Tek Tung Foundation rescue unit and Chachoengsao rescue team rushed to help an elderly patient who was trapped in the house along with a dog to safety and brought rescue boats to help villagers who were trapped in houses that were flooded and had to evacuate to the upper floors of their houses. In addition, the Rope and Rescue team climbed ropes through the rapids to help victims who were trapped in the Kong Kham Hotel.

In addition to the government and rescue volunteers, netizens are praising the owner of a PTT gas station in Ngao District, Lampang Province, for his generosity in giving free fuel to rescuers who went to help flood victims in Chiang Rai. He gave 100,000 baht worth of fuel, and Mr. Atchariya Ruangrattanapong, a famous lawyer, also donated another 200,000 baht, making the total 350,000 baht. However, it is all gone now, so the free fuel will be postponed for the time being and a new round of distribution wi
ll be planned.
