Jiraporn”, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that “Thong Mae Tak” lottery tickets are illegal. They have been sent to the police. A meeting to seize assets will be held on 17 Oct.

Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed about the online gold sales case that the Consumer Protection Board had previously given the company a deadline to come and clarify by tomorrow (4 October), but now it has entered the police investigation process. The Consumer Protection Board has a duty to be a witness in bringing evidence to provide information to the police. She confirmed that the Consumer Protection Board had sent gold samples to be examined at the Gemological Institute for the police, with two types of examinations: X-ray and burning.

After the Consumer Protection Board inspected the shop, it was found that the gold shop did not act in accordance with the law. The information will be forwarded to the police to press additional charges. At the same time, the go
ld shop did not register as a direct seller online, but rather sold online. The facts of the various methods must be investigated. If it is wrong, it will be forwarded to the Consumer Protection Police Division (CPPD) to press additional charges. Earlier this week, discussions were held by inviting the Secretary-General of the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) to follow up on the matter to see if it has entered the process. It was reported that the CPD police had already forwarded information that was the basis for the fraud charge to the AMLO. The Transaction Committee meeting will be held today, October 17, to conduct an in-depth investigation and consider whether there will be a resolution to seize and freeze assets. If there is a resolution to freeze assets, there will be steps to protect the rights of the victims.

Ms. Jiraporn said that from this case, there will be an expansion to investigate other online gold shops. It will be an integrated work, including influencers and famous stars who come to se
ll products. The Consumer Protection Board has laws regarding advertising that can be investigated. Everyone is willing to work together to urgently investigate the use of influencers and famous stars to create credibility and intentionally get people to buy products.

When asked why the asset seizure was not carried out immediately, Ms. Jiraporn said that on that day, there was a discussion with the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) and the Consumer Protection Board (CPB) and there was coordination with the police to monitor the gold shop operators’ assets, including monitoring their movements. If there were any irregularities, the assets would be seized first. From the initial investigation, there was no movement in the accounts. She was interested in this issue and was concerned. She had instructed the officers to keep a tight watch.
