Police suspect the bodies of five-month-old twins were found in a garbage truck. It is believed that they were dumped by someone living in an apartment on Soi Phahon Yothin 13.
From the incident where the bodies of two newborn babies were found in the back of a Bangkok garbage truck in Soi Phahon Yothin 13, Phaya Thai District last night, the placenta and umbilical cord were still attached. Both bodies were male and it is estimated that they had died approximately 10 hours ago.
Pol. Lt. Col. Suphat Hemchinda, Investigation Officer of Bang Sue Police Station, revealed that from the initial interrogation, the two garbage collectors stated that the garbage truck of Phaya Thai District Office normally collects garbage every day in the area. At 10:30 p.m., the garbage collectors will collect all the garbage from various houses in the alley and gather it at the entrance of Soi Phahon Yothin 13. Then, they will load it into the back of the truck and the hydraulic drum of garbage causes the plastic garbage bag to r
ip and the child to fall out. Therefore, the police were called to come and investigate. Initial assumptions are that the place where the infant’s body was dumped and the place where the infant’s body was found are different places. The person who abandoned the infant is likely someone in the alley. Since Soi Phahon Yothin 13 is a dead end with two apartments at the end of the alley, it is believed that someone in the apartment took the infant’s body to dump in the trash can. Then, the cleaners collected the garbage in front of the apartment and waited for the officers to come and collect it at the garbage truck.
In this regard, information from forensic doctors found that the babies were approximately 4-5 months old, twin boys, and may have been born prematurely or had other causes. We must wait for the autopsy results and identification from forensic doctors. At this time, we will coordinate with relevant parties to provide additional statements, such as the apartment cleaner or witnesses who may have seen
the incident. In addition, investigators are checking CCTV footage in the alley where the incident occurred to compile the case file and investigate the perpetrators.
