Parliament, 15 Oct. – ” Gen. Pisal ” flees Tak Bai case, resigns from Pheu Thai Party membership, “Wisut” says it’s over, no duty, no need to expel, insists he is not shirking responsibility, but is letting the justice process take its course.

Mr. Wisut Chainarun, Chairman of the Government Coalition Coordination Committee (Government Whip) and Chairman of the Pheu Thai Party MPs, talked about the process of expelling Gen. Pisal Wattanawongkiri from the Pheu Thai Party if he does not return to the process in the Tak Bai case before the statute of limitations expires. Yesterday (October 14), Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister, announced that Gen. Pisal had submitted a letter of resignation from being a member of the Pheu Thai Party. Therefore, no one needs to say anything to him anymore. However, the details of where and how he resigned must be asked of Mr. Phumtham. However, he confirmed that once he resigned, he was no longer an MP.

“I don’t want to blame anyone for the incident because it hap
pened 20 years ago when I wasn’t a member of the Pheu Thai Party, but was a civil servant at the operational level. Today, he has resigned. If the Pheu Thai Party takes responsibility for anything, that’s the end of it. From now on, it’s a matter of the justice process, not related to the Pheu Thai Party,” said Mr. Wisut.

When asked if this was considered a shirking of responsibility, Mr. Wisut said that the question must be asked, what will you be responsible for? Before this, every party asked every week when you would resign or if you would be expelled. But today, you have shown the spirit of being a man by resigning from the party and being an MP. That is considered finished. From now on, it is the duty of the police and the court to take action. The Pheu Thai Party does not need to do anything else. Therefore, it is not a shirking of responsibility at all.

When asked if the letter contained any explanations for his resignation, Mr. Wisut said Gen. Pisal did not coordinate with him, but believed that it
was to avoid any connection to the Pheu Thai Party.

When asked if academics commented that if the Prime Minister evades responsibility in this case, it would be considered dereliction of duty, Mr. Wisut said that he had not met the Prime Minister yet and it was not a matter of evading responsibility because it was not the Prime Minister’s duty to go after anyone. It was the duty of the justice process. Don’t read that far. Otherwise, if anyone did something wrong, it would be the Prime Minister’s responsibility. It was not necessary to speak according to the facts.

“Today, the Pheu Thai Party is not considering this matter because he has already resigned. What can I do to him? We have no right to go after him. The process is over,” said Mr. Wisut.

When asked if anyone in the Pheu Thai Party was still in contact with Gen Pisal, Mr Wisut said he did not know to that extent, but he personally had not contacted Gen Pisal. He only knew that he had resigned yesterday.

While Pol. Lt. Col. Aphat Sukhanan, Secreta
ry-General of the House of Representatives, stated that he has not yet received the resignation document from the Pheu Thai Party list MP of Gen. Pisal Wattanawongkiri after he had already submitted his resignation from the Pheu Thai Party. According to the procedure, the Pheu Thai Party may notify the House or the person himself may submit it directly to the House. -319.-Thai News Agency
