Mr. Thititham Pongpanangam, Chairman of the Plastics Industry Club, Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), said that plastic products and plastic packaging are something that everyone uses in their daily lives. Therefore, it is undeniable that plastic is a part of our lives and is a necessity for consumption and use. The Plastics Industry Club, Federation of Thai Industries, has recognized the importance of developing the plastics industry, taking into account the environmental impact continuously. This can be seen from it
s participation in drafting the National Plastic and Electronic Waste Management Plan, Phase 1 and 2, using the circular economy principle, i.e. ‘Reuse less, reuse, recycle’, and taking into account carbon emissions throughout the product lifecycle as the main principles for sustainable plastic waste management.

The design of plastic packaging to reduce the amount of plastic used and facilitate recycling is one of the measures in the national plastic and electronic waste management plan that is effective in preventing waste and helping to manage plastic waste and natural resources effectively. The Plastics Industry Group, Federation of Thai Industries, has collaborated with the Thai Plastic Industry Association and the Pollution Control Department to organize the plastic product competition in line with the circular economy, ‘The 5th Thailand Plastics Awards 2024’ Embracing the Loop: Paving the way for plastic circularity, with the aim of upgrading entrepreneurs in the plastic industry and creating knowledge
and understanding among the public about plastic management and providing a platform for those interested to showcase their work, design and development of plastic products.
