UTHAI THANI: Flash floods swept through Uthai Thani Province last night, leaving a trail of destruction in Ban Rai Municipality. The deluge, triggered by heavy evening rains, caused extensive damage to homes and vehicles, some of which were carried away by the powerful waters. Though the water levels receded by morning, the impact on the community remains significant.

According to Thai News Agency, the flooding resulted from a violent overflow from the nearby mountain area, which inundated the commercial sector of Ban Rai Subdistrict Municipality with reddish water. The floodwaters were so intense that they trapped residents in the upper floors of their homes, obstructing evacuation efforts. The flood also led to the collapse of the walls of Ban Rai Temple and caused severe damage in the Ban Rai fresh market, where numerous cars were displaced by the current and later recovered.

Rescue operations have been underway, with workers assisting those trapped in their homes and dealing with power outages. Notably,
Bin Banleurit has joined the rescue team in efforts to aid affected residents. Deputy Minister of Interior, Ms. Sabida Thaiset, visited the area to oversee relief efforts, which have included support from various local and regional emergency services and volunteers.

Throughout the night, the water level gradually decreased, and by morning, officers were able to begin clearing and reopening the main roads. Residents, who had earlier been caught off guard by the rapid rise in water levels, have started to clean up the aftermath, removing mud and damaged possessions from their homes.
