Bangkok, Residents are gradually registering for assistance for the fire in the Trok Pho community in Yaowarat, while Move Forward Party MPs estimate the damage to be in the hundreds of millions of baht.

A large number of people affected by the fire in the Trok Pho community in Yaowarat have gradually traveled to register for assistance at the disaster relief center at Wat Sampanthawong Worawihan (Wat Ko), Song Sawat Road.

Mr. Parames Wittayaraksan, MP of the Move Forward Party in Samphanthawong District, stated that since the incident until now, 265 people have registered. As for the initial damage, 66 houses were affected. Two nearby hotels were burned down. There were no reports of deaths. Locals reported that their properties were severely damaged. In the area where the incident occurred, many foreign workers lived, and various land title deeds were also damaged by the fire.

For assistance, dry food, drinking water, and necessities such as toothbrushes and toothpaste are still needed. There is enough
clothing. The only temporary shelter left is at Wat Sampanthawong, which has already been coordinated with the abbot of the temple. The victims staying here will be looked after by officials from the Sampanthawong District Office and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration at all times. The exact cost of the damage is still unknown. Initially, people must stay at the shelter for at least 1-2 days. Most of the people in the community are working-age people who work in the alleys of restaurants as cooks or waiters.

Mr. Parames revealed that from a rough assessment, the initial damage is estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of baht. He is preparing to bring this matter to the council by submitting an urgent motion to find measures to protect the community in the city because this community has only one fire hydrant. Yesterday, he met with Assoc. Prof. Thawida Kamolvech and Mr. Sanon Wangsangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, to discuss the initial delivery of the fire hydrants.
