Finance Ministry should accelerate transformation of public services

Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has urged her institution, the Ministry of Finance, to continue to take requisite steps and accelerate the transformation of public services in order to tackle varied complex challenges.

“It (transformation) is not something that can be accomplished in just one year. It is a stance to be constantly willing and able to change by addressing the challenges we face,” Indrawati stated at the Ministry of Finance’s 2021 Transformation Festival here, Tuesday.

The minister pointed out that the Finance Ministry, as the manager of state finances, must be present to support the nation in the event of a crisis. To this end, Indrawati pointed out that her ministry should be able to move, adapt, and take necessary precautionary measures in the event of these changes.

One of the ways to adapt is by offering public services that are modern and inclusive, both internally and externally.

On the internal front, it translates to the fact that the Ministry of Finance should be able to synergize various units and unite various activities and objectives of the units into a single unit for effective and sound state financial management.

Meanwhile, on the external front, the Ministry of Finance should serve segments of the community, the economic sector, and stakeholders with good services.

The minister emphasized that these efforts must be made since the COVID-19 pandemic, which has protracted for almost two years, has a major impact on the society, business sector, health, economy, social, and state’s finances.

“The Ministry of Finance should adapt, so we could continue to level up our public service quality that is getting more modern and inclusive,” Minister Indrawati noted.

This must be done as a form of the government’s presence in helping the community and the business world in the midst of uncertainty, including the COVID-19 pandemic, she stated.
