EV Promotes Indonesia’s Automotive Industry: Minister

Indonesia’s automotive industry grew 9.66 percent in the second quarter of this year, compared to the same period of last year, thanks to the sales of electric vehicles (EV), the country’s Industry Minister, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, said in a statement, yesterday.

According to data from the Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries, the EV sales, in Southeast Asia’s largest economy, has recorded an increasing trend throughout Jan to May, this year.

Kartasasmita said that, the automotive sector is able to provide significant foreign exchange through its achievements in exports.
