EGAT-MEA invites youth to join the 67th Science Fair

EGAT – MEA invites youth to join the Science Fair 67, learn about the world of sustainable electricity, learn about the past of Thai electricity businesses, and join fun activities.

The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) opens the exhibition ‘Into Sustainable World’ at the National Science and Technology Fair 2024 from 16 – 25 August 2024, 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Building 12, Impact Muang Thong Thani.

Presenting concepts to inspire and understand the main mission of EGAT, which aims to create stable electricity for a better and sustainable world and future, or Mission To Sustainability under the Triple S strategy: Sources Transformation: changing the form of electricity generation, Sink Co-creation: increasing carbon sequestration sources with participation, Support Measures Mechanism: supporting projects to offset and avoid carbon dioxide emissions, aiming for carbon neutrality through a fun, interesting, and easy-to-understand mixed exhibition format, including encouraging youth to coop
erate in conserving electricity and the environment in 4 zones: Learning about Sources Transformation: changing electricity from fossil fuels by increasing the proportion of electricity generation from renewable energy that is clean and environmentally friendly, with a highlight being the floating solar power plant project in conjunction with hydropower plants, as well as developing the electricity grid and modern technology, developing the electricity grid (Grid Modernization) to support renewable energy, which will increase in quantity, reduce volatility, and create stability for the country’s electricity system.

Get to know Sink Co-creation, a participatory way to increase carbon sequestration sources through learning about the benefits of trees and learning about Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage technologies that play an important role in absorbing carbon dioxide. Have fun with Support Measures Mechanism: Supporting carbon dioxide emission offset and avoidance projects. In addition, there are other
activities on stage at the EGAT exhibition booth, such as an E-Sport competition with a chance to win many prizes.

The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) is organizing an electrical innovation exhibition at the National Science and Technology Fair 2024 under the concept of MEA SPARK PLAY and LEARN from HISTORY, ‘Learn about the past of Thai electricity businesses, join fun activities, and learn about MEA’s mission.’ There are many activities in the booth, such as the mobile exhibition zone of the Thai Electricity Museum, the Thai Electric Tram Paper Model Folding Zone, the Clean Energy Game Zone with Solar Rooftop and the Electric Vehicle Game, and many more. MEA would like to invite young people to join the fun and learn about energy and receive many prizes at the MEA booth in the Government Agency Zone, Hall 11, Impact Muang Thong Thani.

The event also features a mobile exhibition of the Electricity Museum of Thailand, including the history of the Electricity Authority of Thailand, the history of th
e Electric Tram, the history of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, and the work of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority staff. MEA will be able to officially open the museum in 2025 to benefit the preservation of Thai culture, enhance historical, social, and national values, improve the quality of life, and create happiness for the people who visit. It will also be an important place and a new source of learning for the metropolis, answering the future of learning for people in a society where they can learn anywhere through direct experiences at real locations.
