Dr. Warong Dechgitvigrom, the leader of the Thai Phakdee Party, spoke about the case in which Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, the former Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, sent a representative to file a defamation complaint against him at the Nang Loeng Police Station after Dr. Warong posted a message and a clip on Facebook saying that Lt. Col. Thammanat behaved inappropriately and risked interfering with civil servants and the administration after he went to inspect flooding in Chai Nat and Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provinces together with Ms. Narumon Pinyosinwat, the Minister of Agricultur
e and Cooperatives, even though he had already left his position and risked violating the constitution. He said that he wanted Lt. Col. Thammanat to calm down because what he posted on Facebook was a warning to Lt. Col. Thammanat and confirmed that Lt. Col. Thammanat’s status as a minister ended on September 6 after the oath-taking of the new cabinet. Therefore, Lt. Col. Thammanat had no duty to perform his duties on September 8, even though there was an urgent matter and the new cabinet had not yet announced its policies to the parliament. However, the law gave him the authority. The new cabinet can exercise emergency powers even before a policy statement is made, so there is a risk of violating Section 185 of the Constitution.
Dr. Warong also said that in this case, from the latest discussion with Lt. Col. Thammanat’s advisor, it was not a complaint, but only a daily record. If it is like this, he does not mind. But if it is a defamation complaint, he will definitely sue back. Therefore, he wants everyone
