Bangkok, Today (1 Aug.), the ‘Digital Wallet’ registration kicks off from 8:00 a.m. onwards. For those who do not have a smartphone, the next round of registration is open from 16 Sept. – 15 Oct. 2024.

Mr. Chai Wachirong, spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that today (August 1) from 8:00 a.m. onwards will be the first day of opening the registration system and identity verification for the 10,000 baht top-up project via Digital Wallet, emphasizing that those who have smartphones can download the “Thang Rat” application directly from the smartphone operating system platforms, both iOS and Android.

The government and related agencies have prepared to facilitate people to register for the project. For those with smartphones, walk-in service points have been set up to help register and inquire about various information at 4 main locations nationwide: Community Digital Centers, Post Offices, Government Savings Bank, and Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), totaling 5,199 po
ints from August 1 to September 15.

The government spokesman said that from August 1 to September 15, the government, along with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE), the Ministry of Finance, and relevant agencies, have prepared officers to provide services to people who have smartphones but need assistance in registering during operating hours at 4 main locations nationwide:

1) 1,722 community digital centers;

2) 1,200 post offices (except for authorized post offices (private) and service shops);

3) 1,047 Government Savings Banks nationwide; and

4) 1,238 Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC).

While the group of those who do not have smartphones will be able to register to join the project from September 16 to October 15, 2024 at the location specified by the government, which will be officially announced again. They will need to use their ID card to pay and must check their personal status according to their house registration.

The ‘Tang Rath’ app is not down, just clos
ed and reset the system.

Meanwhile, Mr. Paopum Rojanasakul, Deputy Minister of Finance, spoke about the problem of the “Tang Rath” app crashing yesterday morning (July 31), saying that it is currently in the system development phase. During 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m., the Tang Rath application will reset its version to connect with the population registration system, and all systems will be ready at 8:00 a.m. today (August 1).

Today, there will be a ‘Confirm’ button because the government application currently does not have a queuing system. Therefore, the system must be reset during that time. As a result, the system will be closed, but it will not crash. When citizens enter the government application, they will be queued into the population registration system to check if the information is correct. And I repeat, this is not a closure related to a system problem, but a version reset.

When asked if people had problems verifying their identity in the government application since this morning, Mr. Pao Bhumi rei
terated that it was due to the system reset, which was planned in advance. Therefore, he informed people that registration would be possible today at 8:00 a.m.

As for the prediction that people will rush to register today (August 1), will the system be ready and not collapse? Mr. Pao Bhumi reiterated that the system’s readiness has been planned. The system must be set up to be a queuing system and will be sent to the population registration. He had previously informed that the system must enter the ID card number, verify the person’s face before sending it to the population registration, and must receive a response from the population registration first, which takes time. It is a queuing system. Then, the username, password, and PIN code will be created, and the registration process for identity verification will be completed.

When asked what message he would like to give to the people who may rush to register today (August 1), which may cause delays and problems, Mr. Pao Bhumi said that there may be delays
, but not from the government application itself. It will be slow because of the queuing system to check with the population registration system, which the system will accept people anyway. If there are more than 5 million people, it will be a queuing system.

When asked if the registration deadline will be extended if people are still unable to register, Mr. Pao Bhumi said that everyone who wants to register must be able to do so within the time frame, and there is no reason why people cannot register in time because he confirmed that the government application will not have any problems and he believes that registration will be possible within the specified time frame, which is August 1-September 15.

Mr. Pao Bhum added that the National Cyber ??Security Agency (NCSA) and internal government agencies are jointly examining the stability of the registration system. If a large number of people register today, he believes that the ‘State Path’ app will be able to support it.

As for concerns that if the househo
ld registration is moved to the current residential area to facilitate spending in the project, while the ID card has information that does not match the moved household registration, it will be impossible to spend in the project, Mr. Pao Bhum confirmed that people who have moved their household registration do not need to make a new ID card in order for the information on the front of the card to match the moved household registration because the system will check the population registration database of the Department of Provincial Administration. If all the information matches, it will be confirmed that it is the real person according to the ID card.

This week, there will be discussions with financial institutions about the payment platform to support payments within the project. The use of digital money is still confirmed according to the original timeline, which is within the fourth quarter of 67. After this, there will be continuous clarification of the project in various parts to prevent public confusi
on.
