Nonthaburi, The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) together with RX Tradex are planning to organize TILOG – LOGISTIX 2024 during 15 – 17 August at BITEC, Hall 98, attracting over 140 companies presenting products and services of over 415 brands from 25 countries to showcase innovations, technologies and logistics services, along with knowledge-enhancing activities and academic seminars, expecting 9,000 visitors.

Ms. Natthaya Suchinda, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion, said that the Thai logistics industry in 2023 has a good growth direction. The Thai Warehouse Management Association predicts that the logistics industry in 2024 will expand by 15 percent in line with the recovery of the global and Thai economies. Currently, Thailand has 35,593 logistics business operators as juristic persons (data from the Department of Business Development, June 2024). The value of foreign investment as of May 2024 was 5,808.76 million baht, accounting for 16.36 perce
nt of investment in the logistics group in Thailand, with China being the largest investor. In addition, according to the World Bank’s International Logistics Performance Index (LPI) in 2023, Thailand was ranked 34th out of 139 countries worldwide, and 3rd after Singapore and Malaysia in the ASEAN region.”

Dr. Chaichan Charoensuk, President of the Thai National Shippers’ Council, said that currently, exporters are facing challenges in doing business both domestically and internationally, such as labor shortages, rising business costs in all categories, trade measures from many countries, CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism), EUDR (EU Deforestation-free Regulations) or laws related to reducing production and consumption of commodities and products derived from deforestation and causing forest degradation in the European Union, and it is expected that other major trading partners will soon set policies to enforce in the same manner. Thai entrepreneurs who want to export products to these countries must ad
just, plan and implement these policies.

At the same time, it is also an opportunity for Thai entrepreneurs who can adapt, from selecting raw materials used in manufacturing, improving the production process, to packaging and transportation of goods, and choosing business partners with the same goals. Logistics service providers are one of the important partners for exporters. Therefore, selecting a service provider who understands business needs and helps exporters plan, offer development options, and help solve problems is very important and is the key to sustainability in international trade.

Mr. Chalermsak Kanjanawarin, President of the International Freight Forwarders Association, talked about the future of the logistics industry, saying, ‘The use of digital technology will help service providers control the operation of the entire supply chain, obtain data for decision-making accurately and quickly, respond to customer needs on time, efficiently, and control costs better. Technologies that are playing
an important role in logistics services include robots for managing warehouses and goods transport, AI to control the driving and routes of freight forwarders, software to help plan product delivery routes, and Blockchain to help collect and manage data of many types of products in large quantities and connect with stakeholders throughout the supply chain. Development in this area must be driven by cooperation from both the public and private sectors and done seriously to increase competitiveness in the global market.

However, the importance of logistics to drive the country, DITP has collaborated with RX Tradex to organize TILOG – LOGISTIX 2024. Ms. Natthaya talked about the concept of organizing the event that this year’s event is organized under the concept of ‘Connecting the Logistics Future’ or connecting the world of logistics business in the future to show the potential, readiness and cooperation of the Thai logistics industry in adapting to the logistics business in the future that focuses on innovat
