Chusak” reveals that he has not yet arranged for the leaders of the coalition parties to discuss amending the constitution, hoping to finish in time for the next election.

Mr. Chusak Sirinil, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office, gave an interview about the progress of the amendment of the constitution, which will call for the leaders of the coalition parties to discuss whether they have made an appointment yet. He said that in the past, the Prime Minister had an overseas mission, so there was no formal discussion. So he went to talk with Mr. Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, who was the chairman of the committee to consider the study of the referendum approach to solve the problem of differences of opinion on the 2017 Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand. He saw that it was appropriate for him to be the one to call for the leaders of the political parties to discuss, and he was happy to join the discussion so that they could discuss thoroughly what the refe
rendum would be like. This was just a preliminary discussion, but at this time, no appointment had been made.

When asked whether the referendum will have to be held in two stages, Mr. Chusak said that he would let the committee discuss it first.

As for whether he is confident that the new constitution will be completed in time for the next election, Mr. Chusak said, ‘I still hope so.’
