Canadian PM praises Thailand’s passage of marriage equality law

PM discusses with Canadian PM, praises Thailand for passing marriage equality law, other cooperation is ready to continue at all times.

Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, discussed with Mr. Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, during the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits. The Canadian Prime Minister praised Thailand’s legal progress, especially the passage of the first marriage equality law in ASEAN.

Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, spokesman of the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that Prime Minister Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra spoke about the potential for cooperation between Thailand and Canada, especially in education and vocational education. Thailand is also committed to strengthening economic cooperation with Canada, including promoting additional trade and investment, especially increasing the number of direct flights between the two countries to promote more travel. She also hopes that the ongoing FTA negotiations between ASEAN and Canada will go smoothly.
