Cabinet approves reduction of protected wildlife species to 1,306 species

Government House, Deputy Spokesperson reveals that the Cabinet has approved two draft ministerial regulations regarding wildlife, reducing protected wildlife species from 1,316 species to 1,306 species.

Ms. Kanika Aunjit, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that at the Cabinet meeting There was a resolution approving the draft Royal Decree designating certain types of wild animals as protected wildlife, B.E….., the draft Ministerial Regulation specifying that some types of wild animals are protected wildlife (No. ..) B.E….., and the draft Ministerial Regulation specifying Granting certain types of wild animals to be protected wild animals, B.E…. total of 3 issues, as proposed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment).

Ms. Kanika said that the draft Royal Decree designating certain types of wild animals as protected wildlife B.E…. has the essence of designating blue whales. (Balaenoptera musculus) and stone birds (B
uceros vigil or Rhinoplax vigil) are protected wildlife. (5) Insects, 20 items. List 2: Protected wildlife that is aquatic animals, including (1) Mammals, 21 items. (2) Reptiles, 20 items. (3) Animals. Amphibians, 6 items, (4) fish, 30 items, (5) invertebrates, 13 items, including adding 8
items as protected wildlife in the list attached to the draft ministerial regulations as follows: (1) Tanaosri langurs (Trachypithecus barbei ) (2) Haem Kan tail snake (Trimeresurus kanburiensis) (3) Sickletail devil ray (Mobula tarapacana) (4) Leopard shark (Stegostoma fasciatum) (5) Long hammerhead shark (Eusphyra blochii) (6) Smooth hammerhead shark (Sphyrna zygaena) (7) Blue hammerhead shark (Sphyrna lewini) (8) Great hammerhead shark (Sphyrna mokarran).
